How It Works

This calculator uses MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values for walking, adjusted by terrain difficulty. The base MET for walking at a moderate pace is around 3.5, and rougher terrain increases the energy expenditure. Results are estimates and actual calorie burn depends on many factors including age, fitness, and weather conditions.
