About This Walk
Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park, and is the remains of an ancient volcano. Rising to 251 metres, it offers panoramic views across Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth, and the surrounding countryside. Starting from the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace, this walk takes you through diverse landscapes — from ruined chapel to lochan to summit — all within the city limits.
